Survivng emotions.

On yesterday night, I had the opportunity to attend an NA (Never Again) meeting. I've always wanted to experience the presence of those who aren't as fortunate as many of us on this earth. The NA meeting that I attended was actually the "Birthday" of someone. The person celebrated three years of being clean. Many young people are able to party, drink, even do drugs and are able to stop on their own without any special attention. Others aren't able due to personal reasons. At the meeting a speaker whom looked as if he could pass for a preacher spoke. A very clean-cut and mild mannered man around the age of forty years was there to deliver a message that changed many lives. This man was once a college running back with a full ride and much pride. During his career he experienced many down-falls, one led to another until he could no longer get back on his feet at the time. He went on to share a story of his struggle... "I was walking in the rain and everyone was running under bridges, in stores, and in cars trying to relieve themselves from the drench. I even remember a dog turning around from a fence to run in to his dog house. How did a dog have more sense than a human? There I was, a grown man and I didn't even have enough sense to guard myself from the rain." At the very moment I knew i had gone too far..." As I took note of the man who had been through not only this experience, but many more that he shared, many thought filled my brain. Moreover, I received a bigger blessing than I had ever expected and that was to survive my emotions. If a former running back could fall upon the wayside and become an addict of many drugs, recover and still turn out to be something great we can all survive anything. When you feel like all hope is gone in any section of your life, remember that there is someone fighting a bigger battle. Survive your emotions, no matter what because the world does go on.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to each and every one of you! I just wanted to share a story with you all. This morning, my Aunt brought to my attention that today was 1-1-11. She further went to explain that we have already WON/WON/WONWON in the year of 2011! I felt the need to share this message because you never know who may need to read this. In this year, I deeply encourage you all to WIN! Whatever battle you may face the first day, or the last day of this year, claim VICTORY in all that you do. You are a WINNER!
